Guests join family and crew for meals in the main lodge, which was built as a family home in the early 1900s by homesteaders who settled here with 13 children, hundreds of goats and horses. The living room of the main lodge has the original stone fireplace and beautiful burl wood staircase and accents.
Guests are always welcome in the main lodge and Bill has coffee going from about 6 a.m, with a fire to take the edge off crisp mountain mornings. Outside of meal times, you’ll always find tea, lemonade and homemade cookies or pastries, along with fruit if you are hungry for a snack. The living room is a wonderful place to relax, reading by a roaring fire, playing a game of pool or enjoying a jam session with piano and guitars. We also have a small library as well as lots of board games and cards.
Accommodations range from cabins to rooms in the main lodge. The rooms in the historic main lodge evidence the earlier pioneer days, with comfy beds tucked under the eaves covered with handmade quilts, dormer windows, a shared bathroom and a private porch with hammock and chairs. The cabins are either remodeled log cabins from the 1920s or newer frame cabins with 1-2 bedrooms, down quilts, private bathrooms and sitting areas or living rooms. We also have a Yurt, with 3 beds, sitting area and detached private bathroom. Most of the cabins have a fireplace and they all have their own porches where guests can sit and savor the outdoors. You’ll be lulled to sleep by the hoot of an owl or the sounds of the Sweet Grass Creek, meandering behind the cabins. All accommodations have daily housekeeping service, bird feeders, flower baskets and the comforts of home.
