Sweet Grass Ranch Employment

Our employees are at the heart of what we do at Sweet Grass! We hire about 10 employees each season, meaning we are a relatively small crew. We strive to facilitate a close-knit workplace, where staff are able to have a once-in-a-lifetime (or ten-seasons in a lifetime, as it often happens) experience and build lasting skills and connections. All of our staff, regardless of job position, are integral in helping to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience filled with new adventures, camaraderie, and an opportunity to relax and recharge in spectacular country.

Our crew is a vital component of the guest ranch and we’ve been fortunate over the years to have outstanding employees who have made lifelong friends here and who we consider part of our family.

A guest ranch job is a wonderful way to spend the summer, but it is also a lot of work! We look for employees who are motivated self-starters with a strong work ethic, and who are safety-conscious, fun-loving, friendly, and outgoing. Work days start early and employees, while hired for a specific job, are expected to pitch in where needed to get work done regardless of the job title.

All our employees must be First Aid and CPR certified. We expect that all employees will acquire these certifications prior to employment. Our season will start around June 1 and end in late-September, so consideration is given first to those employees able to stay all season. We hire for the guest season only, and do not hire for any ranch work during the rest of the year. While we do hire some college students who have to leave in late August, please do not apply if you can only come for a month or six weeks. Conversely, please do not apply if you are looking for year-round employment.

All our employees are paid a monthly salary, get room and board (living on the ranch is required as the nearest town is 40 miles away), and are paid a share of the gratuity pool. Employees are expected to be mature and responsible, able to live in close quarters with other employees, and to interact respectfully with one another. Employees are welcome to take part in all ranch activities, and to ride, fish, and hike when you have time off.

Our guests are the reason we have been in this business for so long.  We hope that each of our guests will become personal friends, and we strive to ensure they have an amazing vacation and learn something about our way of life. If you share these goals and think this sort of job would be a good fit, then please send a resume, cover letter explaining your job interest and background, and references to:
