Rates:
For the months of July and August, wee have a 7 night stay with 6 full days of riding. In June and September, our weeks will begin on Sunday and end Saturday, so you will have a 6 nght stay and 5 full days of riding. Special weeks such as Yoga and Photography have separate rates so please inquire if interested. Sunday is our horses’ holiday. Rates include lodging, meals, riding, hiking, fishing, and all ranch activities, but do not include the State of Montana accommodations tax or the crew gratuity.
Shorter stays with a minimum of four nights may be possible depending on availability (for example, if we have guests staying 10 days and a 4 day period is left in a week). Otherwise, short stays can only be accommodated in the upstairs of the main house. All stay of less than a week, when available, must begin or end on a Sunday. The rate for a short stay is $400-$500 per person per night, depending on accommodation, and includes meals, lodging, riding, hiking, fishing and any ranch related activities going on at that time.
Our rates for adults vary depending on the accommodations. There are special rates for children, with a $600 per week charge for kids under 4 (non-riding rate), and reduced charges for kids ages 12 and under. Please check on the “Rates” tab to see the current vacancies.
We offer discounts for groups of 10 or more and guests who are active-duty military. All return guests receive a 5% discount off the current rates, and we have a non-rider rate of $1800/person/week.
Please note that only the highest discount applies.
Extras and Specials:
We will have cattle work on occasion, but we do not have weeks with guaranteed cattle work.
We offer packtrips into the mountains–either single night or multi-day trips. The longer multi-day packtrips are 3 to 4 nights and are be booked independently of a regular stay at the guest ranch. Please discuss availability and dates with us and see the Packtrip page.
Single night packtrips can also be arranged for guests who are at the ranch for the week. These trips may be to an alpine lake or to the Bar B, which is a small ranch facility between the cattle ranch and guest ranch. It has incredible views, offers some riding opportunities on the cattle ranch, and has a wall tent, yurt, cabin and a lean-to for lodging. Overnights are at an additional cost.
Other specials include weekly half-day horsemanship clinics. The link will inform you more about these clinics.
If we are going to offer an overnight cattle drive during the summer, we will put that information on the Cattle Drive page. For 2024, we do not have any overnight cattle drive scheduled.
Airports and Transportation:
Sweet Grass Ranch can provide transportation from the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport at an extra charge. A van picks up guests on Sundays only, at 3:30 p.m., and drops off at 10:30 a.m. If you wish us to provide transportation, please ensure that your flights will work with these pick up and drop off times.
The cost is $180 per person, roundtrip, and this is a first requested, first served reservation, as the van can carry about 12 and we make one trip. There are car rentals available at both Billings MT (Logan International) and Bozeman airports and we are about 2 1/2 hours one-way from either airport. If you rent a car or choose to drive from home or another destination, we will be happy to send you detailed directions. (The Waze app is incorrect and will not get you here! Google Maps will get you here, but you will need to open and close private gates along the way.)
Booking Policies and Deposits:
Please fill out our booking form, then give us a call or email to make reservations. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of a 50% deposit, with the balance due on the day of your departure from the ranch. We accept personal check, money order, wired funds, and typical major credit cards. A convenience fee of 3% will apply to all credit card charges. State of Montana accommodations tax: 8% on room portion of stay only. Gratuities are appreciated at the customary rate of 15-20%.
Cancellation Policy:
if you must cancel your reservation and do so by April 1 of the year booked, then one-half of your deposit will be refunded (provided you paid the full deposit). The other one-half deposit will be forfeited or you can choose our rollover option in lieu of a partial refund.
CancellatIons after April 1 are not refunded, but you still have an option to roll over the deposit to the following year. We will do a one-time roll over of the deposit to the following summer if you let us know of the cancellation prior to 60 days before the beginning date of your booked stay. This is the only way we have an opportunity to rebook a cancellation, so please be aware that if you cancel closer than 60 days prior to your stay, you will forfeit both the rollover option and the deposit. Any cancellation within a month of your stay requires you to still pay the balance of your stay.
We recommend travel insurance to cover any cancellations. A number of companies offer travel insurance, so please feel free to contact any of them. Travel Guard is an associate member of the Dude Ranchers’ Association and can be contacted at www.travelguard.com, and reference policy number 109400. Please ask about the Dude Ranch protection plan. Other trip insurance carriers also provide coverage. TRAVEL INSURANCE GENERALLY HAS TO BE PURCHASED EARLY AND IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE RIGHT BEFORE YOUR TRIP.
PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO DISCUSS SPECIAL REQUESTS, LODGING PREFERENCES, AND TRAVEL PLANS.
